SENIOR JENNIFER KEMPTON WINS SCOTTSDALE SISTER CITIES SCHOLARSHIP
Jennifer Kempton, a senior at Coronado High School, has been selected to receive the Scottsdale Sister Cities Scholarship for a year’s study overseas. After being selected for the scholarship, Jennifer then was interviewed and accepted by Rotary into their youth exchange program. She will leave in August 2009 and spend overseas the year between high school and college.
Jennifer will live with a host family, attend school, participate in the overseas community activities and be fully immersed in the language of the country where she will live. She will learn which country in January, 2009. Scottsdale Rotary Club will be her sponsoring club and a Rotary club overseas will be her host club. The overseas Rotary club will select her host families, enroll her in the local secondary school, and provide Jennifer with $100 per month spending money. The scholarship will pay for the airfare, health insurance, passport, visa, and the fees of the exchange. The scholarship is made possible by a contribution from the SCOTTSDALE CANAL DEVELOPMENT LLC to the Scottsdale Sister Cities Association.
